Carlos Chimal narrates in The Color Factory the life of the mexican inventor Guillermo Gonzlez Camarena, who designed one of the first color transmition systems for television. In the chapters I and II he immerses the reader on the family, social and technologic background that nurture his interest for electricity and electronics at an early age; while in the next three chapters he presents the major technologic developments that gave him worldwide fame, as well as the role he played in the development of broadcasting in Mexico. Finally, the epilogue of this book relives his tragic dead, at 48 years of age, in a car accident.
